Meetha House Brings the Flavors of South Asia to SoCal

At most events, the non-alcoholic option is whatever’s left over after the bar: a soda, maybe a juice. Meetha House was started on the opposite idea, that the drink itself can be the main event.

The people behind Meetha House set out to bring faloodas and mocktails to the SoCal market, drinks they grew up loving that you couldn’t really find at events here. (A falooda, if you haven’t had one, is a chilled South Asian drink, typically layered with things like rose syrup, vermicelli and ice cream.) “We’re one of the few caterers in SoCal focused on faloodas and South Asian inspired mocktails, and it’s grown into a natural fit for weddings,” they told us. “A lot of couples like having a drink bar that reflects their culture and gives guests something they haven’t had before.” Weddings aren’t all they do, though. Meetha House also serves private parties, baby showers and any other kind of event.

Booking starts with a quick form on their website. From there, they work with you on the menu and guest count so the drinks fit your event. They bring the bar, the setup, the staff and everything needed to serve, down to the cups and ice, so the only thing the host needs to provide is the space. Their website lists service across Los Angeles, Orange County and the Inland Empire.

The menu goes beyond the falooda bar and the mocktail bar. They also do mango lassi and chai, and for fall, the pumpkin spice falooda is back, “a seasonal twist on a classic” that’s been a fun one to bring to autumn weddings and events.

Which gets at why Meetha House is on Dry County. Asked what makes their drinks work for someone who doesn’t drink alcohol, the answer was clear: “Our drinks are made to be the main event, not a substitute, so whether you drink or not, you’re getting something delicious and creative. Every drink has a nod to South Asian culture and is made with a lot of heart.”

If you’re planning a wedding, a party or a work event and want a drink menu that everyone at the table can enjoy, this is one to look at.
